Police rescue 10-year-old bride from Sanghar

SANGHAR – The police rescued on Wednesday a 10-year-old child bride, who was getting married to a 50-year-old man in a village situated in Khipro area of Sanghar.

The police were conducting raids when they reached a house in which marriage ceremony of a 50-year-old man with a child bride was going on. As soon as the police raided the house, the groom managed to escape. As a result, police arrested eight people including nikkahkhwan Haji Solangi and the girl’s parents.

Police said that the groom’s family hailed from Rahim Yar Khan, adding, that the girl’s parents had sold her for Rs 0.8 million to the much elder man.
