6,900 cops to be deployed on Benazir’s death anniversary

LARKANA – At least 6,900 policemen will be deployed to provide tight security during 10th death anniversary of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Bux on December 27.

This was disclosed by Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal while talking to media in Garhi Khuda Bux on Thursday. He said foolproof security arrangements will be made during the mega event. He said traffic police, special branch and CTD personnel will also be deployed who will be monitored by DIGs and SSPs.

He said a meeting has been held in this connection which was participated by DIGPs of Larkana & Sukkur, Abdullah Shaikh and Khadim Rind respectively, Feroze Shah of Karachi Traffic, Special Branch and CTD along with several SSPs. He said millions of Jialas will take part in the anniversary celebrations from all four corners of the country to pay their homage to their cherished leader.

Siyal said that the Centre had assured to give 50 percent cost of Karachi operation but not a single rupee had so far been received. He said that Centre is providing huge budget for development of Lahore and if only half of it is provided for Karachi operation development of this metropolitan city would be better than Lahore.

Siyal confessed that the biggest issue in Sindh at the moment is of sugarcane growers who are agitating on roads. He claimed that PSMA had written a letter six months back to federal government to allow export of sugar but they refused permission.

He said that sugar is surplus even today. He said he is legally empowered to impose fine of Rs one lakh over sugar mill owners under Act of 1950 as minister for agriculture and nothing else. He said if sugar mills are closed then growers will suffer the most. He said that PSMA had refused to run sugar mills but then talks were held with them by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Zardari and then they agreed.

He said Sindh government is trying that sugar mills should continue their operation and if these are closed then a big crisis will emerge. Siyal said that gas produced in Sindh is being forcibly taken away by Center and in return we are forced to use costly LNG. He said Center’s injustices are much more rather there are series of atrocities.

He said that IGP Sindh is making transfer and postings of SSPs under the order of the High Court.

Siyal said that Sindh, KPK and Balochistan have reservations about CPEC projects. Siyal said that PTI did not even win a single councilor seat in local bodies election then how are they claiming to form next Sindh government. He said Bilawal will announce party policy in the gathering during his address on 27th December.
