Dumper-tanker collision causes oil spillage

rawalpindi – A speeding dumper hit an oil tanker on Thursday causing oil spillage near the British Homes on IJ Principal Road.

A gigantic traffic jam was occurred on the IJ Principal Road after the accident while a heavy contingent of police also rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area to avoid any untoward incident.

According to police, an oil tanker of Hascol Petroleum Limited was moving on the IJ Principal Road to supply 50,000 litres of diesel to fuel stations in the federal capital when a speeding dumper hit the oil.

The oil tanker got damaged and diesel started spilling on road. A heavy contingent of police led by Superintendent of Police Potohar Division Syed Ali rushed to the scene and blocked the roads from both sides for traffic besides cordoning off the area.

Rescue 1122, fire fighters of different department and extra force of police were also called to control the situation, police said. Later on, the management of Hascol Petroleum Limited brought a sucker machine to the site and shifted the diesel in another tanker to transport it to fuel stations.

SP Syed Ali, when contacted, confirmed the incident. He said that no causality was reported so far. He said police took into custody Nusrat Khan, owner of dumper, driver Noor Rehman and the driver of oil tanker Imran Khan into custody and shifted them to police station for further action. He said later on the damaged vehicles were removed from road for traffic movement.
