PAF, Navy, Islamabad win in National Hockey

SUKKUR – Pakistan Air Force, Navy and Islamabad chalked out victories against their respective rivals in the 64th National Hockey Championship here at the Sukkur Hockey Stadium on Thursday.

A brace by Mudassar and one goal apiece from Adnan, Mushtaq and Alamgir enabled Pakistan Air Force defeat Higher Education Commission 5-3 in an absorbing contest. For the losing side, M Abid, Amar Ahmad and Ashar Tariq scored.

Another keenly-contested encounter was witnessed between Navy and Railways with the sailors winning through the solitary goal netted by Hamza Waheed. However, Islamabad gained an easy 4-1 victory over Gilgit-Baltistan as Muneeb got two for the capital side while Zainulabidin and Umar Mujtaba had one each. Imtiaz Ahmed was the lone scorer for Gilgit-Baltistan.

Earlier in the two matches played on late Wednesday, Wapda beat Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) 4-0 with Tauseeq, Asad Bashir, Aleem Bilal and Khizer Akhtar scoring for the winners while Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) defeated ZTBL 3-2 with M Rizwan scoring a brace and Ali Shan one for the winning side while Hammad Anjum and Ghazanfar Ali contributing one goal apiece for the losing side.
