Seminar on drug awareness held

rawalpindi – A seminar on drug awareness was held at the Fatima Jinnah Women University on Thursday. The seminar was organised by the Education Department of FJWU in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, he added.

Anti Narcotics Force Regional Directorate North Commander Brig Hammad Ahmed Dogar presided over the seminar while other faculty members and a large numbers of students were also present.

Addressing the seminar, ANF RDN Commander Brig Hammad Ahmed Dogar enlightened the students about different types of drugs such as narcotics, stimulants, depressants, cannabis, inhalants and steroids and its physical and psychological effects on human life.

He also informed the students about the symptoms of a drug addict. He defined drugs as chemical substances that affect the normal functioning of the body and brain.

 He highlighted causes and effects of the drug abuse. He told that the use of drug in our society is due to psychological and socio-cultural factors.

At the end, a lecture was followed by the questions answers session.

The departments also organized a walk in this regard which was participated by a large number of students, faculty and staff members.
