Seven fall prey to different incidents
KASUR – Seven persons including a woman, minor and two elderly ones were killed in different incidents of violence, burning and road accidents here the other day.
According to police, three persons died in incidents of violence. A rickshaw driver was shot dead by unidentified suspects. There had occurred an argument between the rickshaw driver, Latif, and the suspects at Rickshaw Stop. People intervened and thwart the possible brawl. Latif drove his rickshaw from the spot and was on the way when the suspects came on a motorbike and shot him dead.
The shooting incident occurred near Kasur Bypass. Family of the deceased protested against the incident. They set alight tyres; blocked the bypass for traffic and demanded early arrest of the culprits. Phoolnagar police registered a case against the accused. In another incident, a 50-year-old man, Rafiq, was shot dead by unidentified suspects. Pattoki police registered a case and launched investigation. In Chak 58, Kot Radha Kishan, the dead body of an elderly man carrying torture marks was found near Rohi Nullah. Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police. Police shifted the body to hospital for post-mortem. Identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
In road accidents, three persons including a minor boy were killed. A 30-year-old man, Nadeem Maseeh, was crushed to death by a container.
The incident occurred at Teh Sheikhum on the premises of Bulleh Shah Paper Mills. In Ellahabad, a five-year-old boy, son of Saleem, was playing outside his house when he was run over by a donkey-drawn cart and died. In Khuddian, a man, Ali Ahmed, was killed after the bamboo-laden trailer he was driving overturned near Noorpur Canal due to speeding.
In a burning incident, a man, Ashiq, 75, was smoking cigarette on bed at his house in Kenda Colony, Chunian when the blanket he was covered with caught fire from the cigarette. As a result, he sustained critical burns and was rushed to hospital where he died.
