SHO, four others booked for killing youth
SIALKOT/SARGODHA – Police have registered a murder case against SHO Qadeer Ahmed, ASI Qamar and three others including councillor Khalid alias Dhadi for torturing to death a youth at Sabzpeer police station.
After allegedly killing, the accused policemen had staged a drama that Usman had died of heart attack in police custody. Sabzpeer police have registered a case (No.316/2017) under sections 147,149 and 302 PPC on the report of victim Usman’s elder brother Mannan.
The police had arrested Usman, a private security guard at Kh Muhammad Safdar Medical College (KMSMC), in a goat theft case a day before his death in police custody.
Taking note, Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfraz Khan suspended the SHO following strong public protest against the brutal murder.
Later, the victim was laid to rest in his native graveyard in village Bhullaarwali-Bajra Garhi, Pasrur. A large number of people from all walks of life attended his funeral.
On the other side, Regional Police Officer Dr Akhtar Abbas said that stringent security arrangements will be ensured throughout the region for the Christmas programmes. At present, there is no sectarian issue in the region, he said. District police officers have been directed to hold interfaith harmony meetings before Christmas celebrations, keeping in view the prevailing security situation to avoid any unpleasant incident, he added.
The DPOs will personally supervise all the programmes, keeping close liaison with the allied agencies, he said. Out of the 134 churches, 04 fall in category “A”, 08 in categories “B” while 122 in category “C”.
