Police register formal report of missing Chinese supervisor

Rawalpindi – Police have registered a formal report of the Chinese supervisor, who went missing mysteriously from Karoy Hyrdro Power Project, Kahuta, in the Police Station Record Management System, sources disclosed to The Nation on Friday. 

The formal report was registered by officials of Police Station Kahuta on a written complaint of Deputy Superintendent of Police Asghar Ali Goraya, In-charge Special Protection Unit Karot Hydropower Project, Kahuta.

According to sources, DSP Asghar Ali Goraya, in his written application, told the police that he was deputed as In-charge SPU Hydropower Project Karot and he had received an information on December 20, 2017 that a Chinese national namely Liu Ping Zhei, who was on duty from 7pm to 6am at the Power House Tunnel, went missing from his duty point since 4am. He said that the SPU launched a search for the missing Chinese national.


SHO Police Station Kahuta Basharat Abbasi accepted the application (number 1/33), copy of which is also available with The Nation, and begun investigation after putting it on the Police Station Record Management System.

“The Chinese national was seen last coming out of the tunnel on last Wednesday at 4am” said a senior police officer of a provincial on request of anonymity. He said there were no CCTV cameras installed at the point from where the Chinese national went missing. 

He said efforts are underway to trace out the supervisor. 

He said police have also started collecting the Call Record Data (CDR) of Liu Ping Zhei from the country’s prominent intelligence agency to know his whereabouts.

“Liu was not kidnapped but he has been missing since Wednesday,” said another senior police officer of Rawalpindi while talking to The Nation on request of not to be named. He said that several police teams have been constituted to launch massive search operation in Kahuta and other parts of region to find any clue about the missing Chinese national. “Intelligence agencies and officials of Special Branch are also assisting the police raiding parties,” he said. CPO Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi was not available for his comments on the issue.
