Probe begins against DSP for torturing youth

KARACHI – Police high-ups have initiated an inquiry against the Ferozabad’s deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for allegedly torturing three teenage friends over their alleged involvement in teasing girls in the Police Lines in Ferozabad.

The high ups took action against the DSP Yaqoob Jutt, DSP for Ferozabad after a video went viral on social media on Thursday in which the DSP can be seen while brutally torturing the three friends by getting them naked within the premises of the Ferozabad.

Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Mahar immediately took notice of the incident and asked DIG level officer to conduct an inquiry against the DSP Jutt after suspending him. The initial inquiry suggested that the DSP Jutt committed the crime on behest of his relative, namely Qadees who asked the DSP to commit the crime.

According to Jamshed division SP Dr Rizwan Ahmed Khan, the key suspect, Qadees has been arrested while DSP Jutt has already been suspended while a case has also been registered against the key suspect, Qadees while further investigation into the matter was underway.

Interestingly, the DSP suspended also admitted the assaulting the young teenagers saying that the boys were involved in teasing girls at a Police Lines. “They (tortured boys) trying to defend themselves while saying that they went to the Police Lines to buy betel nuts. Is only betel nuts are being sold in Police Lines? They were saying lie. I will not leave anyone who will tease the daughters and sisters of the policemen,” warned the suspended DSP while talking to the newsmen.

The three youths who were later identified as Usman, Haseeb and Qaiser were among those who were allegedly tortured by the DSP Jutt after they were picked up near from their homes. Their families and relatives also staged a protest against the incident and demanded strict action against the DSP Jutt allegedly responsible for the incident.

The protesting families demanded to register the case against the DSP and other policemen who were involved in arresting and torturing their loved ones. End 

Decomposed body

Police found a decomposed body of young man from the bushes located in Saba Cinema within the limits of New Karachi police station.

Police said that unknown assailants picked up the victim from somewhere and subjected him to extreme torture while throwing his slaughter body at bushes near Saba Cinema. Police being informed by the locals rushed on the spot and shifted the body to morgue for identification after autopsy at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. 

As many as seven suspects were apprehended during ongoing targeted raids by paramilitary force in parts of a city. According to Rangers spokesperson, the suspects arrested included street criminals and drug peddlers and were arrested during separate raids. As many as five suspects were arrested during targeted raid conducted on a tip-off at Kalri area of Lyari neighbourhood.

The suspects arrested were identified as Rana Rashid, Ziaul Haq, Waseem Ahmed, Rasool and Nawaz Khan. Rangers spokesperson said that the arrested suspects were involved in various cases of crimes. Similarly, two more suspected criminals were arrested during targeted raid conducted on a tip-off at Awami Colony area.

 The suspects arrested were identified as Fahim and Sultan alias Gujjar. According to Rangers spokesperson, the arrested suspects were involved in various cases of street crimes and drug peddling. The Rangers also claim to have recovered arms, ammunitions and narcotics from their possession.

The suspects were later handed over to the police. On the other side, Clifton Division police claimed to have arrested a woman and his comrade running a highly expensive drugs den in the locality while recovered huge quantity of the narcotics from their possession. Policed said that the a woman namely Saba and her accomplice Shabbir arrested during a raid in Clifton area while police recovered extremely expensive latest narcotics known as Ice and marijuana.

75,000 litres smuggled

INP adds: The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) arrested five and seized thousands of litres of smuggled Iranian diesel worth millions of rupees here Thursday-Friday midnight.

Reacting to a tip-off regarding smuggling of Iranian diesel, DG PCG Brigadier Sajjad Skindar directed concerned commanders to enhance checking.

During checking, 51000 litres smuggled Iranian diesel was recovered from a tanker and 24000 litres from and mazda (mini truck) which was being transported to Karachi from Gwadar.

The PCG impounded both vehicles with the recovered smuggled diesel and arrested five culprits on board who were being interrogated.
