Two terrorists killed, three lassoed

MULTAN/MUZAFFARGARH –  Two alleged terrorists were killed in a shootout with a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) team in Jalalpur Pirwala on Friday, sources said.

The alleged terrorists belonged to a banned terrorist outfit and they were allegedly planning to carry out terrorist attacks on Christmas and New Year. One of the killed terrorist was identified as Ajmal while identity of the other is yet to be ascertained.

Police recovered one automatic rifle, one pistol and ammunition from the spot. The CTD sources claimed that three or four accomplices of the killed terrorists managed to escape, taking advantage of darkness.

The CTD sources said that the CTD Multan received credible information about the presence of terrorists in Jalalpur Pirwala, who were planning mass sabotage on Christmas in Multan. Heavy contingents of security personnel besieged the area on which the terrorists opened fire on police. The terrorists were warned to surrender but they continued firing.

The CTD party took cover and retaliated. “When the firing stopped, two terrorists were found dead by the firing of their own accomplices,” CTD sources claimed.

Meanwhile, the investigation has been launched into the incident.

In Muzaffargarh, the CTD claimed to have apprehending three terrorists planning a terror plot during the Christmas festivities here.

According to the CTD officials, the terrorists belonged to a proscribed militant outfit.

A large cache of arms and ammunition besides hand grenades were also recovered from their possession during the operation.

Four moonshiners held in ops

The district police claimed to have held four moonshiners with a huge quantity of liquor here the other day.

The B-Division police conducted a raid in Nai Abadi and arrested Nawaz Sheikh with 15 litres of liquor. The Haveli Lakha police arrested Hasham Ali Wattoo, resident of Sukhanwali, with 23 litres of liquor. The police also arrested Abid Ali Barber of Byle Ganj area with 20 litres of liquor. Another moonshiner, Mazhar Ali Potter, of the same locality was held with 25 litres of liquor. Cases were registered accordingly.
