Changes to ETPB rules challenged

LAHORE: A petition was moved to the Lahore High Court on Saturday challenging amendment to Recruitment and Service Rules, 1984 of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).

Abdur Rehman Shaheen, a superintendent, filed the petition and made the Federal Ministry of Auqaf and Religious Affairs, ETPB and others respondent in this case. He said a new ad was given in the newspapers to fill the posts of grade-17 and grade-18 but rules of the board for recruitment had been amended.

The petitioner said that cabinet was not consulted on changes to ETPB recruitment rules for the said grades. He alleged that ETPB Chairman Siddique Al Farooq had constituted a selection committee to favour PML-N workers. The new rules, he said, would also affect the process of promotion of already serving officials. –Staff Reporter

He asked the court to stay the process of recruitment and set aside new amendment in the ETPB’s recruitment rules.

In another development, the LHC was moved against two men appointed as members of the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. Munir Ahmad, a local citizen, moved the petition through Advocate Azhar Siddique.

The petitioner alleged that Hafiz Muhmmad Yousaf and Muhammad Usman were appointed as members of the SECP. He said that no ad was given for the said appointment which he said was the violation of rules and regulations of the commission. He asked the court to set aside the appointment of members with the commission.
