Christian prisoners get 3-month remission of sentence

LAHORE –  Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Khalil Tahir Sandhu on Saturday announced three-month remission in sentence of minority prisoners across Punjab ahead of Christmas to enable them to celebrate their religious festival with their loved ones.

The minister said that more than 500 prisoners had been released and allowed to go back to their homes. He said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has shown his love for minorities by approving remission in the sentence of Christian prisoners. The minister thanked the chief minister on behalf of the Christian community.


The College of Art & Design at the Punjab University on Saturday celebrated Christmas in a cultural and traditional way. The ceremony was held on the eve of annual Degree Show 2017.

Addressing the gathering, Dean of College of Art & Design Prof Dr Shahida Manzoor laid stress on the need for unity among people of all faiths in Pakistan. She wished the Christian community of the University a Merry Christmas.

The college also hosted degree show of BFA graphic design students. The show was an impressive portray of unique ideas by the students.
