Police conduct operations in capital, recover weapons

Islamabad – Islamabad police on Saturday conducted search operation in various areas of Kohsar, Aabpara and Khanna police stations and arrested 37 suspects besides recovering hashish, heroin, wine, weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said.

Under supervision of Superintendents of Police Dr. Syed Tanveer Mustafa and Sheikh Zubair, the search operation was also participated by police commandos, lady commandos and staff of Bomb Disposal squad. 

They screened 120 houses, checked 210 persons and arrested 37 suspects besides recovering 2100 gram hashish , 1400 gram heroin, 77 bottles wine, one 12 bore gun along with ammunition. They also impounded five bike without documents.

 Meanwhile Islamabad police arrested 14 outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered 3495 gram hashish, 750 gram heroin, 60 liter wine, mobile phones, laptop and tablet from their possession. Further investigation in underway.  Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Islamabad Sajid Kiani said that the purpose of this search operation was to ensure foolproof security in the city.

 He also appealed the citizens to remain vigilant and inform police in case of any suspicious activity around them.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police have issued its annual performance report here.

According to a spokesman, police registered a total of 313 cases on charges of murder, kidnapping, dacoity and burglary. Similarly, some 430 incidents of car and motorcycle lifting and tempered vehicles took place in federal capital. He said that the police have apprehended 23 accused involved in 15 blind murder cases.

He added that a total of 6893 cases of different nature were also registered by the police in federal capital. “Police during action have also recovered 4,45,00,000 from the accused involved in crimes during investigation,” he said. While intensifying operations against drug mafia, he said that police held 959 drug peddlers and recovered 380 kg Charas, 81 kg heroin, 29397 bottles of alcohol, 21 kg Opium and 119 Ectase tablets from their possession.

In a bid to purify the federal capital from terrorists and other criminals, police along with Rangers and personnel of other intelligence agencies have carried out 203 search operations in various areas of Islamabad during 2017.
