Protest as educators unpaid for months
HAFIZABAD – The educators protested against the non-payment of their salaries for the past four months and called upon the government to ensure early payment without further delay.
Muttahida Mahaz Asataza District Chairman Riaz Ahmad and Educators Association President Shabbir Muhammad Gujjar said that the educators were recruited in the district about four months ago. They were posted in a remote area of the district but they have not yet been paid their salaries owning to which they were facing multiple problems, they said.
They demanded immediate payment of their salaries to relieve them of financial worries and mental agony.
Meanwhile, the district police during the past 48 hours made grand operation in Hafizabad, Jalalpur Bhattian and Pindi Bhattian police station areas and rounded up 40 suspects including some notorious proclaimed offenders, dacoits, cattle-lifters and drug peddlers.
The raiding parties have recovered 1,140 grams chars from Asif and 1,700 gram charas from Waqar. Besides, a large number of unlicensed firearms were also seized by the police.
SECURITY PLAN: The District Police have made foolproof security arrangements for Christmas and deputed 400 cops and volunteers, DPO Dr. Sardar Ghias Gul said.
He said that there are 33 Churches in the district and all the roads leading to the places of worships would be strictly monitored by the cops by establishing special pickets. Moreover, search and combing operations have been started around the churches to ensure protection of the Churches and the community. In addition, strict vigilance would be made and entry in the churches would be made after proper checking through metal detectors.
GEPCO WARNS CORRUPT

Gepco has cancelled leaves of employees in the Hafizabad district for three days. They were directed to install new meters and transformers during the period, Gepco Additional Chief Engineer Abdul Razzaq said.
Addressing an open court, he urged the staff to conduct crackdown on electricity pilferers without any discrimination and no one be harassed. He said that he would take stern action against those showing negligence in this connection.
He assured the consumers that if any employee demanded gratification for replacing transformer or meter, he be informed immediately and he would not hesitate to take deterrent action against such officials.
