Seven liquor sellers, two drug-peddlers held

OKARA – The district police arrested seven liquor sellers and two drug-peddlers in a special anti-narcotics campaign here on Saturday.

According to DPO Hassan Asad Alvi, Satghara police conducted a raid at 14/GD village and arrested Hussain alias Baggu and Ahmad Wattoo. Their accomplice Mumtaz succeeded to escape. The accused were running a distillery at home. Police recovered 91 litres of liquor and brewing apparatus from their possession.

Dipalpur Saddr police raided Qila Jawand Singh and arrested Bilqees Bibi, Ashfaq and Khawar. The accused ran a brewery at home. Their accomplice managed to flee away. Police recovered 60 litres of liquor, 50 litres of raw wine and distilling apparatus.

Similarly, Okara police arrested Akbar with 10 litres of liquor; Shergarh police arrested Nazir, resident of 20/1AL village with 30 litres of liquor, Asim with 190g of Charas and Idrees with 1.15kg of Charas. Cases were registered against the accused.


Police arrested four highwaymen while one of their accomplices succeeded to escape. Mandi Ahmadabad police raided Jhal Bridge near Bonga Khan Singh locality and arrested the accused. They included Ahmad Nawaz, Azam, Zeeshan and Ghulam Hussain. Police recovered arms from them. Their accomplice who managed his escape was identified as Allah Ditta. A case was registered against them.


A youth was arrested for performing wheelies. The youth, identified as Muzammil, was performing stunts on his motorbike in front of Okara Press Club on Tehsil Road. A-Division police reached the spot and arrested him. A case was registered against him.
