Speakers pay rich tributes to Quaid-i-Azam

HAFIZABAD – Speakers at a seminar held in the Government Postgraduate College for Boys paid glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

They called upon all the segments of society to derive guidance from his life to make the country strong and progressive. “As a matter of fact, his life is beacon for the nation and all of us should strictly adhere to his golden motto – unity, faith and discipline – for success. They also urged their audience to shun favouritism, nepotism and corruption prevalent in the society. They particularly advised the teachers and students to learn moral values and build character to weed out all the malaise. Prominent among those who addressed the seminar included Deputy Commissioner Saleha Saeed, ADC (Revenue) Allah Ditta Warraich, Chief Executive Officer (Education) Iftikhar Nawaz Virk, Deputy Director Colleges Atif Imdad Tarar, MPA Asadullah Arain, Vice Chairman District Council Rai Qamar-ul-Zaman Kharl and Professor Muhammad Ayub Khan Tahir. Later, the students presented a tableau and sang the national songs.

ROBBERIES: Outlaws in two robberies made off with articles worth Rs200,000 at two different places. According to police source, victim Atif of Jhangirpura was returning to Pindi Bhattian after supplying beverages to nearby towns by a vehicle (LES-7228) Near Thatha Khairo Mutmal, two armed bandits attempted to stop the vehicle but he accelerated the vehicle. The bandits opened firing as a result of which the tyres of vehicle were punctured, following which they snatched away Rs132,500 from him.

According to another report, Mushtaq Ahmad of Kot Nawan was returning to his village by a bike. Near Sial Morr, two armed bandits intercepted him and snatched away Rs60,000.

Dacoity incidents in the area have been increased spreading panic particularly among the villagers. The DPO and RPO Gujranwala have been appealed by the masses to intensify patrolling particularly during nights to ensure sense of security among them.
