Christmas security plan reviewed

DERA GHAZI KHAN – A Home Department team visited Saint Anthony United Church of Dera Ghazi Khan and checked the security arrangements for Christmas celebrations.

Talking to The Nation, Saif Ahmed, the assistant director Security Monitoring Team of the Home Department, said that Punjab government would ensure the security of churches throughout the province to prevent any untoward incident in province.

He added that directive had been issued to all the regional police officers, CPOs and DPOs in Punjab by the chief minister’s office for the purpose.

DSP City circle Syed Azher Raza Gillani, SHO Police Station Civil Line Shakeel Ahmed Bukhari and other security branch personals were along with him. Explaining the security plan, the DSP shared that more than 20 police personal including police women would provide security on Christmas.

The police have made foolproof security arrangements for all worship places, churches, important markets, parks and other recreational sites in district DG Khan by exploiting all the available resources, he said.

Azher said that the entrance and exit ways of church would be equipped with closed-circuit cameras, metal detectors and walkthrough gates. Snipers would be deployed on the rooftops of churches and plain clothed commandos of police would be deployed inside the church and no one would be allowed to enter the churches without proper search, he added.

To a question, Azhar said that more than 300 Christians would attend religious prayer at Saint Anthony United Church on Christmas day.
