Islamabad admin to seek putting Qadri on ECL

ISLAMABAD – The federal capital’s administration is considering a request to the Interior Ministry to put PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri’s name on the Exit Control List. Such a move will coincide with Dr Tahirul Qadri’s ultimatum given to the Punjab CM and the Law Minister to resign by December 31.

According to a report, the local administration has also prepared a report on the cases registered against the PAT chief and judicial proceedings. As many as five cases have been registered against the PAT leader, among which three are registered under anti-terrorism clauses.

An ATC has issued a permanent warrant against Qadri, and also ordered to confiscate his properties, sources said.   Unlike PTI chairman, the PAT chief has not yet get bail from the court in the cases.

Sources said the placing of Dr Qadri’s name on ECL would put pressure on the PAT chief as he would not be able to leave the country for his second home in Canada.

The two ‘political cousins’ face charges of destroying property in the Red Zone, attacking the state TV channel’s building and injuring the then Islamabad Operations SSP Asmatullah Junejo.

In August 2014, violence broke out in the federal capital when PTI and PAT supporters attempted to break a police cordon and storm the PM House, using cranes to remove barricades.
