Call for minimum wages at Rs30,000
LAHORE (Staff Reporter): All Pakistan Workers Confederation and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Employees Union have demanded that the minimum wages of a worker should be set at Rs 30,000 a month because of the price hike and the rupee depreciation against dollar.
At a meeting, NBEU secretary general Akbar Ali Khan highlighted the problems of banking sector and called upon NAB to look into the fraudulent promotions and other corrupt practices in NBP. The participants also demanded regularisation of the contractual employees and payment of 70 percent of salary as pension to retired employees. They also called for the payment of reasonable amount to those working for longer hours.
The meeting was basically called on the 17th death anniversary of Ghulam Meeran Kashmiri, founder of trade unionism in banking industry, to pay him tributes for his laudable services.
All Pakistan Workers Confederation General Secretary Khursheed Ahmed, Rubina Jamil, Syed Jehangir, Ziauddin Akhtar, Anwar Jarral, Chaudhry Muhammad Fayyaz and Akbar Ali Khan were among the participants.
Quaid’s 141st birthday celebrated
Abu Dhabi (PR): Pakistan Embassy Abu Dhabi hosted an event for celebrating 141st Birth Anniversary of Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Christmas Day at the Embassy premises today. A number of Pakistani community members participated in the event, which was marked inter alia by special prayers.
Addressing the gathering Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, H.E Moazzam Ahmad Khan highlighted that 25 December had a special significance asit is birthday of two great Messihasi.e. Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Jesus Christ. The Jesus Christ gave the universal message of love and peace and Quaid Azam founded separate homeland for the muslims of the subcontinent.He also pointed out that the constitution of Pakistan, in line with the Quaid’s vision, enshrines safeguards for all communities living in Pakistan. The Government’s policies are geared towards empowering the minority communities to play their role in national life as equal citizens.
Moreover, he expressed solidarity with Pakistani christen community regarding recent terrorist attack on church in Quetta. Lastly, he urged that the best way to tribute Quaid Azam is to pursue his teachings in true letter and spirit for making Pakistan a welfare state in essence.Special messages from President Mamnoon Hussain, and Prime Minister ShahidKhaqanAbbasiwere read out on the occasion. The event concluded with cake cutting.
TAX CLINIC for withholding agents
LAHORE (PR): Tax Clinic arranged by PRA was conducted here at a local hotel for withholding agents for public sector in collaboration with GIZ Germany.
The Tax Clinic was arranged in order to provide necessary understanding of Punjab Revenue Authority law and Punjab Sales Tax on services rules 2015 for withholding agents dealing with public sector, so that they are in a better position to withhold/deduct and deposit the sales tax according to the law. PRA Chairman Dr. Raheel Siddiqui said that such Tax Clinics are necessary as through such Tax Clinics both the Tax collector and depositors are in a better position to understand the issues generated while deducting and depositing Punjab sales tax. Via such Tax Clinics PRA expects a substantial increase in collection of Punjab sales tax.
