Sh Rashid predicts ‘something big’ to happen in next 90 days
MULTAN – Chief of Awami Muslim League (AML) Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said that Nawaz Sharif has gone too far in insulting the judiciary, predicting countdown has begun to something big going to happen in the next 90 days.
Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, he anticipated that he could not see elections in 2018 after Nawaz Sharif’s speech. “Former prime minister does not like Supreme Court judges. In fact, he wants judges like Malik Qayyum,” he maintained. The AML chief said that slogans in contempt of court have been risen during Nawaz Sharif’s yesterday’s speech which hinted that the time for the burial of Nawaz Sharif has come. He alleged that Nawaz Sharif wants elimination of democracy in the country. He said that all others want on-time elections while Nawaz Sharif wants army to come. “He wants elections be delayed for two years to escape punishment from Supreme Court,” he claimed.
Sh Rashid said that Shehbaz Sharif does not have a sign in his hands to become Prime Minister and even if all politicians die, Nawaz Sharif would not have let him become Prime Minister. He added that Nawaz Sharif only trusted Maryam Nawaz and sought advice from her. He claimed that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is playing on both sides of the wicket.
He said that he is proud that the political coffin of Nawaz Sharif is brought out of his case. “Today I am in the assembly and he is out. Nawaz’s name will be put in the ECL before Qadri,” he anticipated. He said that the most important pillar of a democracy is judiciary and Nawaz Sharif does not serving democracy by challenging the judiciary. He declared that the entire nation stands with the Army and Judiciary. “Nawaz Sharif talks against dictator, who himself is successor of a dictator Ziaul Haq,” he maintained. He said that army and judiciary exhibit utmost tolerance and the nation needs to thwart Nawaz Sharif’s conspiracy. He claimed that Imran and Tahirul Qadri have much better terms than the ones they had during sit-in era.
He said that there is a storm of hoaxes on social media after Army Chief’s address to the Senate, asking the Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani to make the proceedings of that day public. He claimed that questions were put through Mushahid Ullah and Parvez Rasheed in the senate. He claimed that Nawaz Sharif prevented attorney general from taking action on Kulbhushan issue. “I salute Pakistan Army for its role in Kulbhushan saga,” he added.
PROBE EXPANDED IN CONSTABULARY SCAM
The Anti-Corruption Department has further expanded the investigations into Punjab Constabulary scam and 31 more persons were made part of interrogation process, disclosed Amjad Shoaib Khan Tareen, Director Anti-Corruption Establishment Multan region.
Addressing a news conference here on Tuesday, he revealed that Rs4.9 million was recovered from the residence of accused computer operator of accounts office namely Shakil Ahmad, taking the total of recovery to Rs7.2 million so far in the scam.
The anti-corruption establishment had registered a case on embezzlement of funds worth over Rs230 million by officials of accounts office and Punjab Constabulary, who opened fake accounts in the names of retired and terminated personnel of the Constabulary and committed the scam.
Mr Tareen further revealed that the case was registered a few months ago and 11 accused have so far been arrested while raiding teams have been constituted to arrest the rest.
He said that three commandants of the Constabulary namely Mian Irfan, Baqir and Mahmoodul Hassan had also been summoned. “We’ve sought permission from the District and Sessions Judge to interrogate the three commandants. If their signatures turn out true after forensic examination, we’ll arrest them,” he declared.
He told media that the arrested computer operator played key role in the execution of fraud plan, who allotted multiple personal numbers to each retired or fired personnel of the Constabulary. “There are instances that one person was allotted 71 fake personal numbers and then bank accounts were opened in their names,” he further disclosed. He said that fake appointment orders with the counterfeit signatures of additional IG Punjab Constabulary would be prepared and then fake salary bills were sent to the accounts office.
He declared that action was also underway against those, who committed frauds in land record management or those who sought bribe for tempering record.
