APS students, teachers visit NBF

islamabad – A delegation of students and teachers of Army Public School on Wednesday visited the National Book Foundation and admired initiatives of the foundation for promoting book reading.

The visitors were briefed about educational and literary activities undertaken by the foundation. The students and teachers visited different sections of the NBF, including National Book Museum, Hafiz Shirazi Corner, Nizami Gunjavi Corner, Camoes Corner, Summer Book Club, National Book Park, Wall of the Honour and Readers Book Club. They appreciated efforts of the NBF for promotion of book culture and dissemination of knowledge among people far and wide in Pakistan. They took keen interest in all the initiatives taken by the NBF for inculcation of book reading habit in students especially. The delegation was also told that the foundation had become an educational and cultural centre for students across the country. They were told that the NBF was promoting book reading habit among the youth and also encouraged book industry by helping in increasing literacy rate and creating reasonable demand for good books.

The delegation was informed that the NBF was playing an instrumental role in reviving book reading culture among the younger generation particularly by adding Readers Book Club scheme. It is one of the most public-oriented promotional activities that attract readers to buy books of their choice at more than half price.

Moreover, the delegation was informed that the NBF was working to provide books on discounted rates to readers at its book outlets as well. The delegation thanked the NBF officials for arranging their visit and lauded their services for creating a knowledge based society.
