Freedom of Kashmir inevitable, AJK president tells world

APP/MIRPUR (AJK)/MUZAFFARABAD-Azad Jammu & Kashmir President Sardar Masood Khan on Wednesday said that the world must take note of the grave human rights violations in Indian-Held Kashmir.
The president made these remarks during a meeting with Member of Legislative Assembly Abdur Rasheed Turabi who called on him and apprised him of his recent visit to Europe. Abdur Rasheed Turabi informed the president in detail of his recent interaction with the community, Chairman of OIC Contact Group parliamentary committees of Turkey, Italy and various other European countries.
The president said, “We need to leverage the strength of the Pakistani and Kashmiri Diaspora in order to effectively engage with the local populace and parliamentarians of their adopted countries. “We can accentuate the Kashmir Issue on a global level only by creating awareness among the international community,” said the president.
He said that India was committing war crimes in Indian Occupied Kashmir and the Kashmiri brothers and sisters were being targeted for their unarmed struggle towards attaining their right to self-determination. He added that these atrocities would not be able to crush the freedom efforts. The movement would continue till Kashmiris are free from Indian occupation, he said.
In another meeting, a delegation of Pak-EU Foundation led by Mr Pervaiz Iqbal Losar also called on the president. The delegation discussed various activities of the Diaspora community in raising the profile of the Kashmir issue, especially among the people of European countries and their parliaments.
The president appreciated the resolute and determined efforts by the Pak-EU Foundation in creating awareness among the international community.
Meanwhile, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan constituted a ministerial committee to oversee arrangements of different functions in connection with self-determination day that will be observed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on January 5.
On this day in 1948, the United Nations (UN) had passed a resolution granting the right to self determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir that is still to be implemented.
The people of Kashmir will observe this day as right to self determination day every year to realize the international community about implementation of this key resolution.
The Prime Minister directed all the concerned departments to make all arrangements to officially observe the day throughout the valley to remind the UN its pledges with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and responsibilities in this regard.
The committee headed by Minister Social Welfare Naureen Arif will comprise on Minister for Education Barrister Iftikhar Gilani, Members legislative Assembly Dr Mustafa Bashir, Naseema Wani and secretaries of education, Services and Liberation cell departments.
The main function of the day will be organized at Muzaffarabad under the aegis of Kashmir Liberation Cell after which a rally will bring out from district complex to UN Observers Office where a memorandum will be handed over to observer for UN Secretary General.
Functions and rallies will also be organised in other districts and towns of Azad Kashmir to highlight the significance of the day and express solidarity with the oppressed people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK)..
