PTF holds AGM
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tennis Federation’s Annual General Meeting was held here at Senator Dilawar Abbas PTF Complex Thursday, which was attended by council members and affiliates, including representatives of the four Provincial Associations and the ITA.
PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan, chairing the meeting, briefed the members about the activities and achievements of PTF in 2017 including successful conduct of two Davis Cup ties and holding threeITF Pro Circuit Men’s Futures events at Islamabad. He emphasised the importance of such tournaments being hosted in-country as it was a catalyst to help improve playing standards of our players.
He shared the PTF’s vision for the future by explaining the development plans that have already been put into place. Lengthy discussion was witnessed on the subject of rules and regulations governing juniors events and members were requested to share their recommendations with the PTF.
The meeting was told that upon the advice and recommendations of Frank Couraud, ITF Development expert, who visited Pakistan it was the first time since 1994 that such a high level ITF official visited the country, a development department has been created to oversee this crucial area that had not been addressed properly in the past. Salim thanked his team for their all-out efforts in organising several back-to-back events. To recognize, appreciate and honour the meritorious services and contributions for development of tennis in Pakistan, Salim Saifullah Khan nominated Senator Wasim Sajjad, former Chairman Senate and Khwaja Saeed Hai, one of the leading veteran tennis players of the country, as PTF Patrons. The council unanimously approved the nominations and extended their congratulations to the new patrons.
