Tareen firm to stay in politics
MULTAN – Central leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Jahangir Khan Tareen declared on Thursday he will stay in politics, although the disqualification verdict disappointed him.
Addressing a South Punjab workers convention here at Al-Quresh ground, he said that he did not do anything wrong and the disqualification decision dismayed him. He said that he would stay in the politics and stand with the people. “Those, who claimed that Imran Khan’s aeroplane will stop now, should listen that if the plane operated for four hours in the past now it will fly for 12 hours,” he declared. He claimed that the PTI would make Imran Khan Prime Minister with the support of the masses. He said that the PTI succeeded in forming a team after efforts of many years and the same team would make Imran Khan the Prime Minister. He said that the opponents called him aeroplane of PTI but Jahangir Tareen is the jet of Imran Khan.
He said that he is an accidental politician and the love for Saraiki soil brought him back from Lahore. He said that he contested election from Rahim Yar Khan on instigation of Makhdoom Ahmad Mehmood and he was serving PTI for the last six years. “My relation with Imran Khan started in May 2011 and I joined PTI for the politics of truth and public service. People think that I am in politics due to my money. They are wrong, I am in politics due to the love of people of South Punjab,” he declared. He said that the residents of Lodhran gave him 140,000 votes in by-election. He said that no one cared about the poor in Pakistan and they are used to get votes but the PTI would offer relief to them after coming into power. He declared that South Punjab would be made hub of PTI.
Speaking on the occasion, former Punjab governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar said that politicians never retired, adding that it is the masses who have the right to make decisions on the future of the politicians. The workers proved that they were with Tareen, he pointed out. He claimed that Jahangir Tareen made progress in all fields including trade, agriculture and politics.
PTI South Punjab president Ishaq Khan Khakwani said that the party and workers accepted the verdict regarding JKT’s disqualification despite reservations. He added that the verdict deprived South Punjab of a great political leader. Other PTI leaders including Ahmad Yar Haraj and Zartaj Gull also spoke on this occasion.
Ali Tareen submits nomination paper for NA-154 by polls.
Meanwhile, Ali Tareen, the son of Jahangir Khan Tareen, submitted his nomination paper as PTI candidate from NA-154 for upcoming by-election. The seat has got vacated after disqualification of Jahangir Khan Tareen. Ali Tareen has formally been announced as PTI candidate but the ruling PML-N has not nominated its candidate so far.
Jahangir and Ali Tareen reached the election commission office with a big rally from Lodhran and submitted the nomination papers. Talking to the journalists on this occasion, Ali Tareen said that he was determined to serve the people of Lodhran. “I cannot forget the love and affection I’ve got from the residents of Lodhran. We’ll never leave our people alone,” he declared.
