NA body rues ministry over PR land encroachment

ISLAMABAD –  The National Assembly Standing Committee on Pakistan Railways rued the ministry for not taking initiative for removing encroachments from its land.

The committee on Friday was briefed about the land of railways encroached and recovered.

The 23rd meeting of the NA committee was held on Friday in Committee Room No 2, Parliament House, under the chair of the committee chairman MNA Syed Naveed Qamar.

The committee was briefed about encroachment on railways land.

It was informed by the ministry that 3,698.814 acres of railways land have been retrieved till date.

Railways Engineering Code is used to determine valuation of land.

The ministry also informed that some variation is expected in figures after automation of record.

The committee rued lack of initiative by the ministry on the issue of encroachment.

The committee directed the ministry to furnish it with final and exact figures on retrieved encroached land, its possession and policy governing the entire issue.

The meeting was attended by members/MNAs Sardar Muhamad Irfan Dogar, Rasheed Ahmed Khan, Dr Nisar Ahmad Jatt, Amjad Ali Khan, Sajid Ahmed, Ramesh Lal and Naseema Hafeez Panezai besides senior officers from the Ministry of Railways along with their staff.
