Sugarcane growers demo against govt

KARACHI – A large number of growers and activists of Sindh Chamber of Agriculture (SCA) held a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Friday against the Sindh government for not forcing the millers to purchase sugarcane from them at fixed rates.  The farmers and agriculturalists from different areas of Sindh reached the KPC to register their protest against the Sindh government.

Talking to the media men, Zahid Baloch, an agriculturalist from Larkana, said that they were economically affected due to the Sindh government’s deliberate neglect of their issue.

He said the Sindh High Court (SHC) had issued orders and fixed the sugarcane rate, but this order was not being properly implemented.

He appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to give special attention to their issues.
