Tayyab, Ammad in DG Rangers Squash final

ISLAMABAD – Tayyab Aslam Friday defeated Ammad Fareed 3-1 to reach the final of the 11TH DG Rangers Open Squash Championship 2017. In the second semi-final, Israr Ahmed edged out Asim Khan 3-2. It was a highly sensational performance shown by both youngsters, witnessed former world champion Jahangir Khan who was also in the in the stands. Top seed Sadia Gul hammered veteran Zoya Khalid 3-0 to set final date with Faiza Zafar, who ousted her sister Madina Zafar 3-1 in the second semi-final. Sadia won against Zoya 11-7, 11-9 and 11-7 while Faiza ousted Madina 3-1 11-9, 9-11, 11-1 and 11-2. Tayyab, former Asian junior champion, put Ammad under tremendous pressure and took the first two games 11-4, 11-7. Ammad bounced back in third and won 11-11. Tayyab wrapped the match in fourth game by winning 11-6. In the second semi-final, Israr defeated Asim, in one hour and 20 minutes of breath-taking squash, 7-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-8 and 11-7.
