Mayor directs severing illegal power connections

KARACHI – Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar on Saturday directed immediately cutting off all electricity connections from the power supply lines of KMC, saying it was illegal to use electricity from the government connection. Chairing a meeting at his office, he said KMC had to pay R260 million in electricity connection bills and if illegal connections provided to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Fire Brigade Stations, Safari Park and Karachi Zoo were not disconnected immediately then action would be taken against the concerned officers.

The meeting was attended by the municipal commissioner Asghar Abbas, chairman works committee Hassan Naqvi, chairman E&M committee Khalid Ajmeri, legal advisor Dr. Azra Abbas, director general works Shahab Anwer, director technical S.M Shakaib and other officers.
