Punjab to ensure transparent purchase of sugarcane

SARGODHA – Punjab Minister for Literacy Dr Farrukh Javed has said that the provincial government has formulated committees which will ensure transparent purchase process of sugarcane by mill owners at the rate of Rs180 per 40kg without any deductions.
He was chairing a meeting here at Deputy Commissioner Office along with DC Liaqat Ali Chattha, ADCR Tariq Khan, ADCG Asif Iqbal, all assistant commissioners, sugar mills administrations and representatives of sugarcane growers.
The minister said that the government had imposed Section 144 CrPC against illegal weight measures and the mills not issuing CPRs to growers.
The minister said that sugar mills are still not functional in Sindh while farmers were getting Rs 140 per 40kg in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. He said due to agriculture-friendly policies of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, all mills are functional in Punjab and purchasing sugarcane from farmers.
