Planning Commission authorises 73.32pc funds allocated in PSDP 2020-21

Islamabad    –  The Planning Commission has issued authorisation for the release of around 73.32 percent funds allocated in Public Sector Development Programme 2020-2021 during first seven months of the current Fiscal Year.

From 1st July 2020 to 4th February 2021 the planning commission has issued authorisation for the release of Rs476.623 billion which is almost 73.32 percent of the total PSDP allocation of Rs650 billion for the FY 2020-21.

According the official data released by the planning commission, of the total Rupee component of Rs577.525 billion during first around seven months of the ongoing fiscal year, authorisation for the release of Rs409.620 billion has been issued. Against the Foreign Exchange Component of Rs72.475 billion in the PSDP 2020-21, authorisation has been issued for Rs67.004b.

Of the total allocation of Rs 366.251 billion for the federal ministries/divisions authorisation has been issued for the release of Rs300.060 billion.

For the finance division, out of total allocation of Rs66.665 billion, the planning commission has issued authorisation for Rs52.518 billion; for Higher Education Commission (HEC), out of total Rs29.470 billion, authorisation for the release of Rs22.482 billion has been issued. For cabinet division, out of total allocation of Rs47.802 billion, the planning commission has issued authorisation for Rs46.001 billion; and for interior division, authorisation has been issued for Rs11.807 billion of the allocation of Rs14.758 billion. For national food security and research division, authorisation for Rs8.716 billion of the total allocations of Rs12 billion have been issued. 

For water resource division, authorisation for the release of Rs63.886 billion of an allocation of Rs81.250 billion has been issued. For railways division, out of the total Rs 24 billion allocation, authorisation for the release of Rs 18.800 billion has been issued. 

For corporations including NHA and NTDC/PEPCO, the total allocations for FY 2020-21 were Rs158.325 billion and authorisation for the release of Rs135.646 billion has been issued. For special areas of total allocation of Rs52.425 billion, authorisation for the release of Rs39.717 million has been issued.

It is pertinent to mention here that last month Senate Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Special Initiatives was informed that only 4.62 percent of the allocated funds, in the PSDP 2020-21, were utilised on 300 new projects during first two quarters of the current fiscal year.

It was informed that the total number of the projects in the PSDP 2020-21 is 998. The total cost of the 998 projects is Rs8,293 billion which include 650 billion PSDP allocations and Rs5,756 billion throw forward. Of the total 998 projects 300 are new projects while the remaining 698 were running projects.

For 300 new projects Rs173 billion has been allocated in the PSDP 2020-21, the official informed. However, during the first two quarters (1st July to 31 December) only Rs8 billion or 4.62 percent were utilised on the new projects, it was informed. 

Similarly for the old/ongoing projects out of the total allocations of Rs477 billion in the PSDP for ongoing fiscal Rs198 billion has been utilised during first two quarters of the current fiscal year.
