Govt to register 40-49 age group for vaccination from tomorrow: Asad Umar

Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Monday has announced to open registration of 40 plus age citizens for coronavirus vaccination from April 27.

In a post on social-networking website Twitter, the minister said, “In today’s National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) meeting, we have decided to open up registration of 40 plus age citizens starting tomorrow.”

Asad Umar urged, “If you are 40 years or older please register and encourage others to get registered.” A decision was also taken to allow walk in vaccination of all the registered citizens of 50 plus age group, he added.

On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 70 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 800,452. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 17,187.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 4,825 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
