Govt announces two-day public holiday on Ashura

The federal government has announced holidays on August 18 and August 19 on account of Youm-e-Ashur.

A notification was issued in this regard.

According to notification, August 18 and 19, 2021 (Wednesday and Thursday) shall be public holidays on the occasion of Ashura (9th and 10th Muharram 1443 A.H.).

Earlier this week, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee sighted the Muharram-ul-Haram moon, which rings in the new Islamic year, 1443 AH.
