Locals annoyed over commercial building in residential area
ISLAMABAD – The district administration has failed to stop construction of an illegal commercial building in the residential area of Mohalla Zamin Abad, Mardan.
Despite several notices of Additional Deputy Commercial Finance and Planning to Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO), the copies of which are available with The Nation, the illegal construction of the commercial building could not be stopped by the concerned authority.
Meanwhile, the DC-Finance and Planning Office in a letter dated July 9, 2020, to the TMO-Mardan also termed the construction of building as illegal and against the rules and laws.
The DC-Finance in his letter further said, “The site was visited and it was observed that under-construction building is totally in the residential area and looks like a commercial building.”
The letter to TMO-Mardan citing earlier report of the TMA Office further said that neither permission was given for the construction of the building nor map of the plot was approved by the TMA-Mardan.
It must be noted that Assistant Building Inspector Muhammad Bilal on July 22, 2020, also termed construction of the building as illegal and against the TMA laws.
While talking to The Nation, the complainant Syed Shah Sabir said that despite several notices of DC-Office and application by him to the concerned authorities, construction of the building in the residential building could not be stopped by the district administration.
He urged the concerned authorities to take immediate action as the local residents are disturbed by heavy trucks and loaders.
The Nation repeatedly approached TMO-Mardan and asked him for his view on the matter, but he did not respond to the questions of the correspondent.
The Nation also tried to take the stance of DC-Finance and Planning but he also did not answer the questions.
