CM Buzdar hopeful new LB system will start new era of composite development

LAHORE – Provincial Minister for Local Government Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office on Monday and apprised him of departmental performance besides discussing matters of mutual interest. The chief minister appreciated that the draft of the Punjab Local Government Act 2021 had been approved by the cabinet, adding that the new LG system would solve public problems at the grassroots. He said that the people would be empowered by devolving power for resolution of their issues at their doorstep. He maintained that the new local bodies’ system would start an era of composite development. Criticising the opposition, Usman Buzdar said that it was only interested in safeguarding its personal interests. He termed the PDM an unnatural alliance of rejected and frustrated politicians who had no agenda for the masses. “The negative attitude of the opposition parties is known to everybody as they have lost credibility in the public,” he said.
