Festival marks setting up of libraries at public schools

LAHORE   –  The Centre for Education and Consciousness Tuesday organised a daylong festival to celebrate the establishment of libraries and books in schools at the Children Library Complex (CLC), Lahore.

The festival was organised in collaboration with the School Education Department (SED) and the CLC. It is worth mentioning here that as many as 24 libraries have been established in schools under the Pakistan Literacy Project (PLP).

The libraries have been set up in the primary sections of 12 state-run schools in Lahore and as many public schools in Bahawalpur. More than 1,200 books from 19 publishers have been made available at these libraries. These modern libraries have been established to help children connect with literature to promote reading habits among them. The libraries were well acknowledged by Punjab Minister for Social Welfare and Baitul Maal Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari, SED Special Secretary Dr Suhail Shahzad and ITA Chairperson Dr Narmeen Hamid. They were invited as special guests at the festival.
