Rain washes out day three in Dhaka

DHAKA    –   The third day of the second Test between Bangladesh and Pakistan in Dhaka was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain. Rain was persistent throughout the day, with the covers never coming off.

That was down to cyclone Jawad, which hit India and Bangladesh, but the forecast is better for day four, and hope remains play will be possible. The abandonment meant Pakistan will resume the fourth morning, rain permitting, at 188/2, with captain Babar Azam (71*) and Azhar Ali (52*) at the crease. On day one, Bangladesh had caused some trouble to the Pakistan openers, reducing them to 70/2, before Azam and Ali led the recovery.
