LAHORE/ISLAMABAD   –  All the major opposition parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Jamiat Ulema-e Islam Fazl (JUI-F) on Tuesday came down hard on Prime Minister Imran Khan as the Scrutiny Committee of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) revealed in its report that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party did not disclose dozens of bank accounts and funds worth millions of rupees to the constitutional body.

In at tweet, PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan had not only stolen and hidden money but also plundered the people of this country. She said that the constant leaks, revelations, and evidence, are more than enough to bring down the PTI.

“No other party in history has been seen behind such serious fraud and scandals,” she said. “Had there been such a corrupt, liar, and conspiratorial ruler like Imran Khan in the history of Pakistan?” she questioned

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) spokesperson Hafiz Hamdullah, in a statement, said the scrutiny committee’s report has revealed the theft of Imran Khan and PTI.

“The scrutiny committee has exposed the true face of the PTI before the nation […] Imran Khan and PTI, who accused others of theft, turned out to be thieves themselves,” he said. The spokesperson said the report has “proven” that PM Imran Khan is “not sadiq and ameen” anymore, as he demanded the premier to disclose the purpose for which the hidden bank accounts were used.

In Lahore, Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) on Tuesday unveiled a white paper highlighting alleged irregularities and financial scams of the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Titled ‘Tabdeeli Nahi, Tabahi’ (No change but destruction), the paper lists the government’s alleged failures including flour crisis, sugar scandal, Ring Road case, BRT project, Billion Tree Tsunami, and medicine prices besides showing ‘realities’ about prejudiced accountability process against the Opposition members.

While unveiling the white paper during a press conference here, PPP Central Information Secretary Shazia Marri said that the current government caused losses to the tune of billions of rupees in gas and petroleum sectors.

She was accompanied by former National Assembly deputy speaker Faisal Karim Kundi, PPP Central Punjab Information Secretary Shahzad Saeed Cheema, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Aslam Gill, Ahsan Rizvi, Afraz Naqvi and Asif Raza Baig.

Marri said that Pakistan had become the fourth most expensive country in the world. Shazia further stated that the current inflation rate of the country had reached 11.5 per cent, adding that Pakistan had been declared the most expensive country in South Asia. She pointed out that the PTI government after coming into power fired thousands of people from their jobs and more than 6.6 million people were unemployed currently in Pakistan.

She said that condition of the health sector in the country was the worst and health cards were nothing but a drama to play with poor people’s sentiments and the prices of medicines had also been increased by 500 per cent.

Talking about the foreign funding case, she said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had organised events in the name of Shaukat Khanum Hospital in different countries and collected cheques from foreigners in the name of his political party PTI.

Faisal Karim Kundi said that an in-house change was the only solution to prevent anarchy in the country.

Kundi said that Bilawal had been pointing out since day one that resigning from assemblies would not work and only an in-house change would be the viable option to get rid of the incompetent government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

“Bilawal Bhutto can manage a no-confidence move if the joint opposition assigns him this task,” he said.

Mr Kundi said that Bilawal Bhutto would preside over a central executive committee meeting of the party on the birthday of party’s founder chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on Wednesday (today) at Bilawal House Lahore. “Members of the federal council and political leadership of the province will also attend the meeting,” he added.

He said that in the recently-held first phase of local bodies’ elections all the relatives of the ruling elite were defeated despite the fact that the prime minister had himself violated the code of conduct.

“The MNAs and MPAs of the PTI are openly saying that they can’t face the public,” he added.

On the foreign funding case, he criticised the PTI for demanding the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to collectively open the accounts of all the political parties. “It is like the concept of collective weddings,” he said.

He also demanded joint investigation teams (JITs) on the killing of political martyrs of PPP and Awami National Party (ANP), who were killed during the local bodies’ elections. He alleged that the federal minister for Kashmir Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur was behind the killing of ANP candidate.

Shazia Marri paid tributes to former Punjab governor Salman Taseer, saying that he was martyred for his bold stance. “He was a brave person who stood bravely despite knowing that he was taking a dangerous stance,” she added.

According to her, the PTI could provide details of only 12 accounts out of 77 controversial accounts of foreign funding case. She said the leaders had received funds for Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, but they asked the philanthropists to issue cheques in the name of the PTI. She also lambasted the PTI leadership for abusing the opponents throughout the last three and a half years.

She said that inflation had touched 11.75 per cent in the country and all the essential items were out of the common man’s reach in the country.

PML-N Secretary Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has demanded immediate resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan over foreign funding case report released by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Marriyum claimed that Imran had no legal or moral grounds left to continue as prime minister after being proven a corrupt, money-laundering thief by the report.

“The report has unmasked the true face of the fake ‘Sadiq and Ameen’ in front of the whole world,” she said.

The former information minister said, “After trillions of illegal funding being proven, Imran must resign and the Parliament must be dissolved.” She said the scrutiny committee report proved that Imran hid 53 accounts. It proved that foreign individuals and companies funded Imran. She asked the Election Commission to take prompt legal action against Imran Khan after this ‘incriminating evidence’ proving him a ‘certified thief and culprit’.

Marriyum said, “Imran has no right to continue clinging to the office of Prime Minister. God Almighty had revealed the truth about Imran to the entire world. Imran must stop sucking the nation’s blood and leave them alone.”

She said Imran was so obsessed with evidence, now he must accept this evidence and resign. This report also proved that Imran was funded by foreign forces to overthrow an elected Prime Minister of Pakistan. This report had revealed to the nation why Imran had been doing everything to destroy national economy to fulfill the agenda of his foreign funding masters, she concluded.
