NCHR launches consultation to ensure HR protection

Peshawar – The National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) has launched strategic consultation with various stakeholders, representatives of all religions, media and those working for the protection of human rights in Peshawar to ensure the success of the commission and ensure protection of human rights.

In this regard an interactive consultative meeting was held which was attended by the Chairperson of Human Rights Commission Rabia Agha, Member of National Commission for Human Rights Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tariq Javed, Coordinator Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rizwanullah, representative of Huqooq-e-Pakistan Dr. Osama Siddiqi, Project Manager Huqooq e Pakistan Shazal Malik, provincial representatives, and representatives of CSOs, and human rights activists.

The mandate of the Human Rights Commission was presented in the meeting and the issues faced by participants were explained to the commission. The participants of the meeting said that the commission should use its powers to ensure the protection of human rights wherever there is no violation of human rights in the country. If any law is made in the country, it must be monitored from the beginning and all those who work for human rights must be taken into confidence.

They also pointed out that in most places there is a difficulty in enforcing human rights laws which is mainly due to the fact that no rules have been laid down for the laws, so there is an urgent need to formulate rules for NCHR law first. The participants said that the commission should include all those who provide assistance in various fields of human rights.
