PM calls for activating PTI workers to ensure party’s success in LG elections
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday directed all PTI leaders to take effective steps to make organisational structure of the party strong.
He was talking to Minister for Planning Asad Umar, who is also secretary general of the party, in Islamabad. The Prime Minister also asked for making party workers active to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming local government elections in their areas.
PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President and Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak, PTI Punjab President and Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, PTI South Punjab President and Minister for Industries and Production Khusro Bakhtyar, PTI Sindh President and Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi, PTI Balochistan President and Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri and PTI Additional Secretary General Amir Mehmood Kiani also attended the meeting.
Credible sources told The Nation that the provincial presidents briefed the PM about the steps taken so far for reactivating the party at district level in each province. The PM also directed the party’s provincial presidents to immediately sort out differences if any within the party at provincial or district level and remove reservations of old party workers.
The PM while quoting the KP LG polls results directed that genuine party workers should be given preference in awarding tickets for LG polls.
In another meeting of the party spokespersons and party leaders including core ministers, the PM reviewed the incident at Murree and directed that a comprehensive plan for resolving problems of Murree be presented to him at the earliest so that next time such an unfortunate incident may not occur again.
Speaking on the Murree incident, he said that an investigation committee has been constituted and directed the committee to bring facts before the nation and identify the real loopholes in Murree.
The PM said Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid was present and on his directives CM Punjab Usman Buzdar also reached the spot to review the relief and rescue operations.
He directed that tourism and hoteling in Murree must be regulated and accommodation issue of tourists be resolved on priority basis. During the meeting, Adviser to PM Babar Awan briefed about the foreign funding case at the Election Commission and said PTI is the first party which disclosed its financial sources and asked ECP to get such details of other political parties before the nation.
“PTI has made history by sharing such details which were earlier never presented by any party,” Babar Awan said.
The Finance Minister briefed the meeting about the latest economic situation including the mini budget before the National Assembly and the strategy to get it passed.
