BAHAWALPUR – Directorate of Sustainable Tourism the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) and Agri-Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan jointly organized the 8th National Agri-Tourism Conference at Main Auditorium, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus.
The Chief Guest of the conference Vice-Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that our region has a lot to offer in terms of tourism. We want to work for this region.
The IUB will provide all possible support for the promotion of tourism and for this purpose we have established the Directorate of Sustainable Tourism which is continuing to work for the development of this sector. Such an event will benefit not only our students but also the business community in the region. We want the students of the IUB to complete their education and start their own business instead of looking for a job and providing employment to other people. Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal, former Principal, Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, and renowned motivational speaker of Pakistan said that our youth are very capable and hardworking.
8th National Agri Tourism Conference held at IUB
This region is very important in terms of tourism. Our youth and farmers need to be given opportunities as much as they work hard. Not only will they be working to improve their economic conditions but also to play their role in Pakistan’s economic development. The foundation of the world’s development is the universities that provide and produce education and the center of any city is the university and I have witnessed that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has made this journey very fast in the last few years. We need to focus on natural food, which will strengthen our economy, he said. Prof. Dr. Jawad Iqbal, Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur said, according to the vision of the Vice-Chancellor.

Focal Person and Director IUB-DOST Salman Mehmood Qureshi said, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur is the first University in Pakistan in which the Directorate of Sustainable Tourism has been established. Dr. Wajid Naseem Jatoi, Associate Professor, said, more such programs will be organized in collaboration with the Agri-Tourism Development Corporation, WWF, and its affiliates.
