Ashrafi affirms vow to propagate peace, harmony in society

LAHORE   –  Special Advisor to Prime Minister on Religious Harmony and Middle East Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi called on Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to discuss national unity and matters of mutual interest. The CM said that national unity was a need of the hour and the role of Ulema in promoting religious harmony was commendable. “Ulema can play a significant role in promoting tolerance, patience and brotherhood in society,” he commented. He said that the role of religious scholars in the intellectual and ideological war against extremism and terrorism was commendable. “The golden principles of tolerance, peace and patience must be propagated,” the CM said and asked the religious scholars to play their role in sensitising public to safety measures against coronavirus. “The Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Usman Bazdar is playing a commendable role in the development and prosperity of the people. Ulema will continue performing their role against Corona, added Maulana Tahir Ashrafi.


Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved the post of Additional DGPR for Multan while approving recruitment on five vacant posts of the digital media wing of the DGPR Department. The decision was made in the meeting of the cabinet standing committee on finance and development under the chair of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. He also approved the charter for giving university status to Government Viqarun Nisa Postgraduate College for Women in Rawalpindi. 

The CM approved the inclusion of the scheme for the establishment of the university in the ADP of the current financial year. He approved 18 schemes for the development of Sahiwal with a cost of Rs50.5 crore along with the approval of sports scholarships, cash awards and a grant-in-aid of Rs4 crore for the families of the deceased players.

 Economic Advisor Dr Salman Shah, SACM Hasaan Khawar, chief secretary, SMBR, Principal Secretary to the CM and secretaries of relevant departments attended the meeting. Provincial ministers Hashim Jawan Bakht and Mian Aslam Iqbal participated through video links.
