Rawalpindi commissioner, DC assume charge
Rawalpindi-The newly appointed Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Noor Ul Amin Mengal and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tahir Farooq assumed their charges on Friday.
Soon after assuming the charge, DC Rawalpindi Tahir Farooq convened a meeting with officers of different departments including Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance and Planning) Amber Gilani, ADC (Headquarters), ADC Revenue and all other assistant commissioners and municipal officers of the tehsils.
Farooq ordered his subordinates to act upon the instructions of government to facilitate the masses. He said that all the departments should design a comprehensive plan according to the weather predicted by Met Office as the weather conditions of Rawalpindi change rapidly.
The DC said that a progress report regarding implementation of 18 points issued by Chief Secretary Punjab should also be submitted to his office on regular basis.
Commissioner visits Murree
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Noor Ul Amin Mengal paid a visit to Murree to review the arrangements made by the district government and traffic police to control traffic rush ahead of rain and snowfall spell, informed a spokesperson on Friday.
The Commissioner had made a stop-over at entry point of Murree on Expressway and interacted with the policeman on duty. He inquired about the advisory issued by the government of Punjab for traffic and tourists. He asked all the cops to remain vigilant and facilitate the tourists.
Commissioner later visited Jheeka Gali, Kuldana and Barian to review the traffic situation. He directed the authorities concerned to make the machines functional to remove the snow from roads.
He said that a control room has been set up under the command of AC (HQ) to facilitate the tourists.
On the occasion, DC Rawalpindi Tahir Farooq, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Qasim Ijaz and other officers were also present.
