The honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr Imran Khan during his live question/answer session dated 23rd January 2022 with the public on national television mentioned and complained that half of the tax revenue collected by his government has to be spent on interest and repayments of loans taken by the last two governments Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) (years 2013 to 2018) and Pakistan Peoples Party (years 2008 to 2013).

That is why, he explained, not much money is left with the government to spend on education, health etc. This reminded me of Prime Minister’s address to the nation dated 12th June 2019 when he vowed to nab the “thieves who plunged the country in debt badly.” He further said: “I am constituting a high-powered enquiry commission with a one-point agenda: how they accumulated so much debt in 10 years”. The enquiry commission, the Prime Minister said will have representatives from the Investigation Bureau, Federal Investigation Agency, Federal Board of Revenue, Security and Exchange Commission and Inter-Services Agency.

I would like to request the Prime Minister to share with the nation the findings of the above mentioned high-level commission and actions taken in this matter so far.
