OGDCL in collaboration with Al-Shifa Trust organises free eye camps

ISLAMABAD - In order to provide free eye treatment to underprivileged individuals, OGDCL in collaboration with AL-Shifa Trust organised “Free Eye Camps” in all four provinces of the country. In Sindh province, 10 free camps were organised across 06 districts i.e. Sanghar, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Jamshoro & Hyderabad. 02 more camps are scheduled from 9th to 17th March 2021. Total 22,880 patients have been treated in Sindh.
To provide free eye treatment in KP province, 04 camps have been established since November 2021 in districts Karak & Kohat. 15,855 patients have been treated through these eye camps so far whereas 03 more camps are scheduled to be organised by June 2022 in KP. Similarly in Punjab, 03 eye camps have been established across 03 districts i.e. Attock, Vehari and Rajanpur. Total 11,896 patients have been treated for various eye related diseases in these three camps.
In Balochistan, OGDCL organized 02 eye camps at districts Barkhan & Kohlu. Total patients treated in both camps are 5,934 while 05 more camps are planned to be organised in Balochistan by June 2022. Total 3,929 COVID tests were also performed for incoming patients prior to their eye treatment. Total 56,565 patients were benefitted in these free eye camps in all four provinces. 3,168 cataract surgeries were conducted, 18,139 spectacles and 2,125 special glasses were issued to the patients in these eye camps. Local communities have shown their gratitude towards OGDCL for providing them free treatment under OGDCL CSR initiative.
