LAHORE - The three-day 121st Annual Sports of the Government College University Lahore on Saturday concluded with a colorful ceremony at the university’s Oval Ground marked by the Gymkhana events.
Thousands of students, teachers, staff members and Old Ravians participated this year in the March Past and 70 different competitions of GCU annual sports gala. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi led the university’s faculty team in tug-of-war against a team of senior Old Ravians. Sehar Fatima and Hadiqa Nasir won the title of best female athletes of GCU for their extraordinary performance in different sports competitions. Ali Ahmed Sukhera was declared the best male athlete.
GCU VC Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi revealed that as many as five male athletes made the new GCU records during 2022 at the 121st Annual Sports. “Ali Ahmad Sukhera, Faraz Khan Tanoli, Ali Haider and Zohaib Habib broke the university’s old records in 200-Meter Race, Long Jump, 3000-Meter and Hammer Throw,” he added.
Earlier, in the competitions, Asia Perveen and Attiya won Chatti Race and Cricket Ball Throw, while Mehreen Abdullah was triumphant in the Musical Chair. Hassam won the white cane race for special students. Nabeel crossed the finish line first in Sack Race.
