ISLAMABAD - Pakistan reported 378 new coronavirus cases during last 24 hours, compared to 756 a day earlier, marking the first time since December 28 last year that daily infections dropped below 500.
The infection rate of Covid-19 continues to decline across the country as the positivity ratio fell to 1.29 percent, down from 2 percent a day earlier. With 378 new infections, the tally reached 1,515,392. A total of nine more fatalities were also confirmed on Tuesday morning and the overall death toll reached 30,281. According to the breakdown of the cases, Sindh reported 92 cases during last 24 hours, Punjab 124 cases and 4 deaths, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 117 cases and 3 deaths, Balochistan 10 cases and 1 death, Islamabad 19 cases and 1 death, Gilgit-Baltistan 5 cases while Azad Jammu and Kashmir reported 11 such cases in the said period.
Furthermore, another 603 people have recovered from the epidemic in the country during last 24 hours, according to the NCOC. This has taken the country’s total recoveries to 1,455,765. The number of active cases stood at 29,346, of whom 778 were in critical condition.
