Tribesmen block Pak-Afghan highway 

KHYBER   -  Tribesmen blocked Pak-Afghan highway for all kinds of traffic near Bara Bridge, subdivision Bara, on Saturday in protest against forcible suspension of power supply to their area by the residents of Matani area of Peshawar.


Hundreds of tribesmen of Mirghat Khel, the sub-tribe of Aka Khel, blocked the road by putting hurdles on it.


Speaking on the occasion the elder of Mirghat Khel tribe Attaullah Afridi, Mirghat Khel committee’s chairmen Said Anwar and Ihsanullah said that Aka Khel tribe of Afridi had a land demarcation dispute with the dwellers of Matani. They claimed that their opponents have suspended electricity from Matani Grid Station to their area for the last 33 days.


“We have convoyed our grievance to the authorities concerned but no action has been taken so far,” they remarked. The protestors threatened to continue their protest and not to reopen road for traffic until resumption of power supply to their area.
