Ehsaas Nashonuma Programme launched in Landi Kotal 

Khyber - With the purpose to address the issue of malnutrition and to prevent stunting in children under two years of age and pregnant ladies Ehsaas Nashonuma Programme has been launched here in District Headquarter Hospital of Landi Kotal.  On special directives of Dr Fazal Majeed, Director Nutrition Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the programme is targeting the most vulnerable (children 0-2 years and pregnant and lactating women) of district Khyber having the highest stunting rates (approximately 50 percent stunting rate; Key findings Pakistan National Nutrition Survey, 2018).  Highlighting important features of the programme, Ibad Javed, Nutrition Coordinator Khyber, said that to prevent stunting in children under two years of age, to improved weight gain of pregnant women during pregnancy and to prevent low birth weight children are the main objectives of the Stunting Prevention Programme.  “Ehsaas Nashonuma Programme, focusing the First 1000 Golden Days of Life (Conception or 1st day of pregnancy till 2 years of Baby Life), has the capability to shape the future of the nation,” he said.
