MQM-P, BAP to submit formal request for Opp seats in NA

ISLAMABAD - Since the government allied partners [MQM-P, BAP and JWP] have formally distanced themselves from the ruling clique, these former partners will submit formal applications in the National Assembly to sit on opposition benches, background discussions with senior members revealed.

According to the parliamentary tradition, a formal application is submitted in the National Assembly Secretariat for allocation of seats in the house according to their party affiliation.

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Balocation Awami Party [BAP] and Jamhori Watan Party [JWP] have recently parted ways with the PTI government four days before the voting on no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. All these three allies separately announced to detach from the PTI’s government expressing a plethora of reservations with the incumbent government.

The support of these political parties at this stage will be very helpful for the joint opposition to make successful its no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan. The joint opposition, having 162 votes in the National Assembly, has to show 172 votes at the time of voting.
