TEDxLahore makes a comeback after a two-year hiatus

LAHORE - After the immense success of a number of TEDxLahore events over the years, TEDxLahore made a comeback with a live event after a two-year hiatus since the COVID-19 outbreak. The theme for this year’s event was ‘Rebooted’ – a fitting subject given the changes the world has undergone from a micro to a macro level.
Held at The City School’s DHA campus in Lahore, TEDxLahore ‘22 featured a fantastic line-up of speakers ranging from the renowned philanthropist Sabrina Dawood, environmentalist Dr Fozia Tahir, co-founder of Arjumand Foundation Fahad Yousaf, author Zarrar Said, Edtech pioneer Fahad Tanveer and Editor Neelam Hussain. Quadrum, Pakistan’s first multi-percussion band also made a comeback to the TEDxLahore stage since their inception in 2010. Mahnoor Said, a 15-year-old sitarist serenaded the audience while The City School’s campus choir ended the event on a high. Alongside the talks, there were host of activities and origami and mindfulness workshops organised for the attendees during the networking break. There were stalls by small business owners and also a children’s area for kids with activities such as storytelling, puppet shows, painting workshops etc. Aurangzeb Firoz, a Member of the Board of Directors at The City School Network, expressed immense delight at The City School DHA’s collaboration to host TEDxLahore this year. He added that initiatives like TEDxLahore would enable students to engage in meaningful experiences and become the future leaders of tomorrow. Sabrina Dawood, one of the speakers stated: “My experience was amazing. The team was very well-organised and were able to put together an event that was both uplifting and inspiring. It was a pleasure to be a part of the speaker line-up.” Fahad Tanveer, who also spoke at TEDxLahore ‘22, stated: “Events like TEDxLahore are crucial for sharing novel ideas and introducing society, especially young people, to contemporary thought leaders. It has a domino effect and undoubtedly will lead to the emergence of a more aware and engaged society.” “TEDxLahore provides, not just a platform but, a much needed safe space for ideas that are transformative, inspiring and thought provoking,” Nida Sohail Chaudhary, the Co-Curator of TEDxLahore ‘22 said. “Such events are needed to allow space for dialogue and a shift towards a growth mindset as a nation.”
“In the last two years the integration of technology in our lives has really taken off because of the pandemic. Also people have realised that apart from one’s physical health, mental well-being is just as important,” stated Irteza Ubaid, the Curator of TEDxLahore and the TEDx Ambassador in Pakistan. “It was heartwarming to see people networking at our live event which is a huge component of TED and TEDx events the world over.”
